Govt plans 300-bed hospital near SPR

Gurgaon: A project to construct a government hospital in Sector 67 has been handed over to the health department by GMDA.According to the earlier plan, the hospital was to be built on 7.6 acres, less than a kilometre from SPR, which has a number of residential societies in the vicinity. It was to have a capacity of 500 beds and three super-speciality wings for oncology, cardiology and neurology. Now, the health department plans to construct a 200-300 bed facility.“We will make a proposal for the hospital and send it to the state government for approval. Now, as the project has been transferred to us, we will begin the documentation for initiating approval for constructing a 300-bedded hospital at the site,” said Virender Yadav, the CMO.Its announcement, first made by the state government in 2016 — GMDA’s official proposal came out only in 2018 — was welcomed by many. Yadav said, “Strengthening the public health care network is very crucial. This hospital, once ready, will provide affordable health care to people. All facilities which are available in multi-speciality hospitals will be offered. The city needs a specialised government hospital. We will prepare a detailed project report to start the construction work.”He added, “In October 2022, Haryana’s director general of health services Sonia Trikha had visited the Sector 67 site. A lot of work has to be done now to start the process. It may take three to four months to get approval for the plan. Then we will proceed further.”Proposed by the authority in 2018, the concept note for the hospital was finalised in 2019. The same year, GMDA had issued a tender, but it received no response.“The GMDA put a notice on its website on March 25, inviting eligible bidders to submit proposals to design, construct, operate and maintain the hospital as a long-term shareholder by July 15. The GMDA received no response,” the letter read.

2 years late, GMDA starts work on 1.8km alternative link to SPR

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has begun the process of constructing a 1.8km road in Sector 70A to provide an alternative route to the Southern Peripheral Road. The road will alleviate traffic congestion on the main sector road and benefit residents of several societies in the area. The project is estimated to cost Rs 15.1 crore and is expected to be completed within 15 months after the tender is allotted. However, there may be a delay as land for a 350m patch is yet to be handed over.

Upkeep of Gurgaons streetlights to remain with MCG, not GMDA

The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) will continue to maintain and operate the streetlights in the city, despite a proposal to transfer the responsibility to the Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). The decision was made during a meeting between MCG and GMDA officials. The proposal was to transfer around 7,000 streetlights to GMDA, but MCG will retain control due to their technical expertise. The MCG has prepared estimates for the operation and maintenance of streetlights in each zone, with tenders to be floated soon.

GMDA to carry out desilting of sewer network in MCG areas

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will take over the responsibility of cleaning internal sewer lines in Sector 15 part-2 using super sucker machines, as the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has repeatedly failed to resolve the issue of overflowing sewage. The GMDA has already been given charge of service roads, and this one-time cleaning work is estimated to cost Rs 2.14 crore. The GMDA will carry out the work, while the operation and maintenance will remain with the MCG. Sector 15 has been facing the problem of sewage overflow for the past 6 years, with little action taken by the MCG.
