From March 12, repairs to start beyond Kherki Daula

toll plaza, has decided to carry out

repair

work on it

from March 12

, following several complaints from commuters. The concessionaire has said it will meet all the required safety standards.

The company, in a letter written to residents on Saturday, said that it was facing several issues over repair work in the concerned area. “We have faced a lot of

delays

because of land acquisitions, removal of acquired properties, delays in payment by state authorities, among other things. We have also incurred huge financial expenses because of this,” it said.

Other reasons, according to LR Singh, vice-president (construction), Pink City Expressway Pvt Ltd, are “roadside drain filled with garbage thrown by locals, waste water discharged by locals and encroachments”.

Additionally, there is uninterrupted movement of heavy vehicles on NH-8 that has led to repeated damages. As a result, the pavement of the main carriageway and service road are “seriously affected in terms of strength”. The letter states, “Currently, the traffic is 2.5 times higher than the applicable load, putting stress on the road. It is also affecting the flyovers.”

The repair work on potholes will be carried out from March 12. Electric poles have already been installed at some

locations

.

The letter says: “The cleaning and removal of debris is being carried out regularly. Cleaning work on the service road will start from this week.”

An National Highways Authority of India (

NHAI

) official said they had warned PCEPL that the agreement could be terminated as they have not been maintaining the flyovers on the entire stretch.

According to the agreement, the concessionaire will maintain the flyover till 2023.

Dheeraj Singh, a Sector 80 resident, said, “We have been chasing NHAI officials and PCEPL for a long time. Now, we have received written assurance from them regarding the repair work on the entire stretch, including installation of streetlights and cleaning and filling of potholes.”
