Fraudsters offer MCG job, cheat man of ₹15L, booked
Gurgaon: Two fraudsters cheated a man from Farrukhnagar of Rs 15 lakh after promising him a job in MCG. One of the cons, he alleged in the police complaint, posed as a senior MCG official. A cheating case was registered on Saturday night after the victim lodged a complaint. Jagdish was contacted by a man named Aswini Yadav in Feb 2021. “Since I was unemployed, Aswini offered me a job in MCG through his relative Poonam, who he claimed was a senior officer there. Initially, I declined the offer but when he made me talk to Poonam on phone, she claimed she had provided jobs to several people in Gurgaon and Manesar corporations. I got carried away and accepted the offer extended by her,” Jagdish said.Aswini then asked Jagdish for copies of his ID and education documents. “Aswini had initially asked for Rs 20 lakh to secure a clerical job for me. When I requested for a reduction in the amount, he settled for Rs 15 lakh. I agreed to give the money only after meeting Poonam in person,” Jagdish told police. On Feb 13, 2021, Aswini and Poonam went to Jagdish's house. Poonam assured Jagdish of a job within 10 days of depositing the money.“On Feb 14, I gave Rs 15 lakh to Aswini and in March 2021, I received an email from MCG with a joining report and an ID card. Aswini gave me a blank attendance sheet as well,” Jagdish said.Aswini kept depositing Rs 20,000 per month in Jagdish’s bank account till Jan 2023. Jagdish got suspicious and went to MCG’s office after he was asked to work from home permanently. He realised that he had been duped and lodged a complaint in Nov 2023. After a preliminary probe, police registered a cheating-cum-forgery case against Aswini and Poonam at Farrukhnagar station on Saturday under IPC sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record). Farrukhnagar SI Vikash Dahiya said that prima facie there is no proof of money transfer since the complainant claims to have given Rs 15 lakh in cash.“Aswini and Jagdish were from the same village. We are yet to identify Poonam. There is no MCG employee with that name,” the SI said.
