GURUGRAM: Four men were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly threatening and opening fire at a contractor on February 5 in Sohna.
Police said a contractor on February 2 had filed a complaint alleging that he was receiving
extortion calls from alleged members of the Ashok Rathi gang. “On February 5, four people barged into the contractor’s house and opened fire on the premises.
They told him that as he had approached the police they had come to warn him. The gang members wanted to take over construction supply business in Sohna and were threatening all contractors,” ACP crime Preet Pal Sangwan said.
Sangwan said that an FIR under sections 34 (common intention), 307 (attempt to murder), 341 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 452 (house trespass) of the IPC and under relevant sections of the Arms Act was registered against the four at Bhondsi police station and teams were formed to nab them.
He further said that on Tuesday, the four were arrested from Sohna-Tauru Road and were identified as Narender Singh alias Sonu, Abdul Manan,
Sunil Kumar and Mohammad Iqbal. All four have a criminal record and were out on bail when they committed the crime. “They were extorting money to run their operations. They had identified 50 people and had been calling them for protection money,” Sangwan said.
