GURUGRAM: Five people fell ill after consuming mouth fresheners at a restaurant in Gurugram sector 90, police said on Monday.
Ankit Kumar, accompanied by his wife Neha Sabarwal, Manik Goinka and his wife Preetika, as well as Deepak Arora and his wife Himani, visited the restaurant. Ankit informed the police that after their meal, the restaurant staff offered them mouth fresheners, which immediately caused their health to deteriorate.
Ankit refrained from consuming the mouth freshener as he was carrying his one-year-old daughter.
However, his wife and friends began vomiting and experiencing bleeding from their mouths. Ankit alleged that despite their worsening condition, the restaurant management and staff did not provide any assistance and remained indifferent.
They contacted the police and reported the incident. The victims were taken to the hospital where the doctor identified the mouth fresheners as containing a deadly acid called 'dry ice.'
The police have initiated a case under sections 120B and 328, and further investigation is currently underway.
