Fire breaks out at flat in Gurgaon’s Sector 63A society from possible short circuit
Gurgaon: A fire broke out on the first floor of a flat at a residential society in Sector 63A on Wednesday afternoon, triggering panic in the residential complex. No casualties have been reported in the incident. An official said the initial assessment points to a possible short circuit as the cause of the fire. “The exact cause will be confirmed after inspection,” he added.A family of four, including two children, was inside the house when the fire broke out but they managed to escape before the flames intensified. Residents of other flats on the same floor were also moved out in time, preventing any injuries. The blaze started around 3.30pm and spread rapidly, engulfing the entire flat within minutes. Fire brigade teams rushed to the spot after receiving information and brought the blaze under control. “We received a call in the afternoon and immediately dispatched multiple fire tenders. Household items caused the fire to intensify but it was contained before it could spread further,” a fire dept officer said.Sources claimed that fire extinguishers installed in the society failed to function during the emergency, raising concerns over maintenance. Furniture, appliances and other valuables in the flat were completely destroyed in the incident.
