In a letter to Huda, DHVBN officials said that owing to the mismatch between the heavy density of the required load and limited load catering capacity of 11kV feeders, more 33/11kV substations and switching stations are required.
The congestion of power lines along the roadsides not only gives the city an ugly look but also results in power wastage. Under the zero outage project, the whole network will be taken underground and there will be an additional line parallel to the main line so that in the event of any faults, power supply can be transferred through the secondary line.
"We estimated the land requirements and have conveyed the requirements to Huda. We have asked for more space than required, factoring in possible contingencies," said S K Chhabra, superintending engineer, smart grid project.
He said a meeting was held in this regard with Huda and directorate of town and country planning (DTCP), where it was decided to work on the suitability and availability of the plots.
