He was flung in the air and landed a few metres ahead with a thud.
Himanshu Singh, a resident of Dwarka, was in his Honda City just behind the bike. He was returning home after dinner at Sector 50 along with his children.
“The SUV first crashed into the bike and then hit my car. Since it was speeding, the intensity of the crash mangled the front portion of my vehicle. I suffered injuries. My son, who was on the seat beside me, was thankfully safe. The SUV did not even stop for a second after the accident,” Singh told police.
Singh managed to call his friend Arun Sangwan, who arrived and took them to Park Hospital.
An FIR was registered at Sector 40 police station against the unknown SUV driver under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“We are investigating the matter. We are scanning CCTV footage of nearby areas to trace the accused,” said a police officer.
Kamal left behind a wife and two children in Varanasi. His body was handed over to his family after an autopsy.
