JIND: Jind deputy inspector general of police (DIG) O P Narwal on Friday placed traffic station house officer (SHO) under suspension following the latter’s heated argument with local BJP MLA Krishan Middha’s driver over parking of a vehicle.

The move comes a day after the incident, a video of which went viral in social media. In the video, the SHO is seen asking the MLA’s driver to park his vehicle and strap his seat belt on at the venue of a programme attended by former Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala.

In the viral video, the SHO and the MLA’s driver are seen arguing over parking of the vehicle. The SHO, who was deputed to control the vehicular movement, was made to undergo a medical examination after the MLA’s complaint to the superintendent of police (SP). The SHO felt humiliated and complained of one-sided action into the matter.

Talking to TOI, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Dharmbir Kharb said, “After getting an order from the district police chief, the SHO was suspended and sent to the police lines. DSP Sadhu Ram has been deputed to investigate the matter. We received a complaint from the MLA that the SHO misbehaved with the driver in an inebriated condition, following which his medical test was also conducted. The police are waiting for the blood sample report and further action will be taken after that.”

Meanwhile, MLA Middha’s personal assistant Mohit Sharma, who picked up the phone, said, “The MLA is busy in Baroda bypoll and is unable to take calls. We have lodged a written complaint with the district police head against the SHO’s behaviour, as he was abusing the MLA’s driver.”
