Con offers role for daughter in ad, cheats Gurgaon couple of Rs 32k
Gurgaon: A couple was cheated of Rs 32,000 after a woman randomly stopped them in a mall and promised to feature their daughter in a TV advertisement. The accused told the couple that their six-year-old daughter would be featured in an Oreo biscuits ad alongside prominent celebrities, including Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Alia Bhatt.According to the complaint filed at Cyber Police Station East, Pritam Ghosh, a resident of Sector 107, stated that the accused, who introduced herself as Anjali, claimed to work for Kids India Agency and expressed interest in featuring their daughter in a TV commercial.She collected the contact details of Pritam's wife, Ishika Ghosh, and later contacted them, requesting videos of their home and photographs of their daughter. Shortly afterwards, she informed them that Pratiksha was selected for the ad and demanded a payment of Rs 32,000 as a photographer's fee for creating the child's portfolio, which Pritam paid via credit card. Days later, Anjali contacted the family again, this time claiming that their daughter had been chosen for an advertisement. She demanded an additional Rs 1 lakh, citing expenses for costumes and photoshoots. It was at this stage that Pritam realised the entire scheme was a fraud.
