GURGAON: The city is set to host the ninth edition of Madhavrao Scindia Golf Tournament, a charity event that has nevertheless become an integral part of the NCR's golfing circuit. The tournament is scheduled to tee off on Saturday, with over a hundred amateur golfers - among these business personalities, cricketers, and other celebrities - competing for top honours.
"Since its inception, the Madhavrao Scindia Golf Tournament has been held in the same city and at the same golf course. This edition, the ninth, is no exception," said a spokesperson of DLF Golf and Country Club, which will be the venue for Saturday's tournament.
In the list of attendees for Saturday's event are names of the politician
Jyotiraditya Scindia, cricketers Murli Karthik and
Nikhil Chopra, and industrial magnates Ratan Jindal and Pankaj Munjal among others. "There will be several prominent personalities from various walks of life present there, and our aim is to raise funds for various social development projects undertaken by the Madhavrao Scindia Foundation," said one of the organizers.
This is only a day-long event, but is of particular interest to the amateur golfers from Gurgaon, Delhi and other parts of the NCR. "There are some 120 amateur golfers from across the region participating in the tournament. In all the previous editions, the excitement levels have always remained high, and we're expecting the same this year," said a golf course representative in Gurgaon.
