A joint operation to rescue Yuvraj, 10, was launched late on Saturday after one of the accused contacted the victim's father, Pankaj Sehgal. Police said they had been monitoring all calls made to the boy's house and had asked Sehgal not to identify himself when receiving a call from an unknown number. After Aditya, one of the accused, made a call, police traced the number and arrested him. His interrogation led the police to rest of the three accused, identified as Susheel Meghwal, Sanjay and Rajan, who were arrested from a flat in Sector 2 in Palwal. "A call was made to the victim's father late on Saturday afternoon. We traced the call and it led us to one of the accused, Aditya, who was arrested. Around 11.45pm, a police team raided the Sector 2 flat where the boy had been held hostage," said the cop.
Further interrogation revealed that the key accused, Susheel Meghwal, had hatched the plan to abduct the boy three months ago to settle an old score with Sehgal, a motorcycle dealer. Three years ago, Meghwal had booked a motorcycle at Sehgal's agency and had given Rs 44,000 as advance payment. Sehgal, the accused claimed, kept the advance receipt with himself. Later when Meghwal went to the agency to find out about his booking, he was told no transaction was made between them. Meghwal later tried to file a police complaint against Sehgal, but got no relief.
Three months ago, he decided to kidnap Yuvraj, and rented a flat in Palwal. He also roped in three people, offering them a share of the ransom. "We will produce them in court on Monday and seek police remand. Our priority was to rescue the boy," Faridabad police commissioner A S Chawla told TOI. The Class V student of Manav Rachna School in Faridabad was abducted on Friday afternoon when he was on his way back from school. He was with his grandmother when the kidnapping took place. His grandfather K L Sehgal is a member of the personal staff of Dr Naresh Trehan, CMD, Medanta The Medicity in Gurgaon.
