Auto overturns near IFFCO Chowk, passenger on way home dies

Gurgaon: A 29-year-old man succumbed to severe injuries after the auto-rickshaw he was travelling in overturned near IFFCO Chowk on Monday. Police said a motorcycle swerved in front of the auto-rickshaw, making the driver lose control of the vehicle. The three-wheeler toppled over. Amrender Kumar, a native of Bihar and a data analyst at Bombay Shaving Company in Udyog Vihar, was on his way home when the accident happened around 7.30pm. Kumar and the auto driver, Sant Ram (58), were rushed to Park Hospital by other commuters. Kumar died on Tuesday while undergoing treatment while Sant Ram is stable and recovering at the hospital, police said. Kumar's body was handed over to his family after a post-mortem. Inquest proceedings under Section 194 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita have been initiated. "No FIR has been registered as it was a case of accidental death. However, further legal action will be taken if the family files a complaint or if new evidence emerges," an officer said.
