America

As per the information, earlier on September 27, 2019, Anurag lodged a complaint with Ambala police against Gaurav, following the economic cell of Ambala police conducted an enquiry into the allegations.

Now on Friday, on the basis of enquiry report submitted by the economic cell, the Ambala booked registered a case against accused Gaurav Chopra under Section 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the

Indian Penal Code

(IPC) at Mahesh Nagar police station (PS).

Anurag stated to the police, “I am XII pass and was willing to go abroad. Krishan Kumar of my village is my uncle and he has liquor business in Ambala Cantonment. I told my uncle about my will to go abroad. After some days, uncle Krishan informed me that he met an agent Gaurav Chopra who works to send people to foreign countries. Later, we met Gaurav at my uncle Krishan’s office in Mahesh Nagar, Ambala Cantonment and Gaurav demanded Rs 20 lakh for sending me to America and we finalised the deal at Rs 20 lakh. On April 20, 2019, I along with my father Pramod Kumar handed over Rs 3.2 lakh in cash to accused Gaurav at my uncle ’s office. Up to April 29, 2019, we paid a total of Rs 8.10 lakh to Gaurav, via account transfer and cheque and it was settled that the remaining amount will be paid once I reach abroad.”

“Gaurav took my passport and other documents but till date, he did not send me abroad”, further added Anurag.

“This case has come to us after an enquiry by the economic cell of district police, we will obtain all the records from the concerned departments and action will be taken against the accused as per law. So far, we have not made any arrest and after verifying facts, they will be arrested soon”, told inspector Satish Kumar, SHO, Mahesh Nagar PS.
