Eight ‘large outbreak’ areas, each with 15-plus Covid-19 cases in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: The district administration on Friday identified eight large outbreak regions in the city.


“According to the guidelines of the

health and family welfare ministry

, a large outbreak is defined as a localised increase in

Covid-19

cases within a defined geographical area in a village, a town or a city. The cases may or may not be epidemiologically linked. For operational purposes, a large outbreak is deemed to be present when there are 15 or more cases,” stated the order issued by the district magistrate on Friday.

The areas identified as large outbreak regions include Dundahera-police station road, Aggarwal Sweets Gali (Sector 21), Dundahera Community Centre, Vishal Mega Mart street in ward number 4,

, Madan Puri in ward number 16, Rattan Garden, Shivpuri Inn ward number 17, Shivaji Nagar, Shanti Nagar ward number 20, Baldev Nagar, Firoz Gandhi Colony, Ravi Nagar ward number 21, Heera Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Shivaji Park ward number 22, Hari Nagar, Shakti Park ward number 23 and Nathupur abadi ward number 35.

While containment zones are areas where five or more than five Covid cases have been reported, large outbreak areas are those with 15 or more Covid-19 cases.

The deputy commissioner has directed all SDMs and ACPs to identify boundaries of large outbreak regions (LOR) and specify their entry and exit points.

Thermal scanning and screening will be conducted at exit and entry points of an LOR. Rapid testing for symptomatic people will be advisable for people at exit points. Only essential shops and commercial establishments will be allowed to operate in these areas.

The list of containment zones has, meanwhile, been revised, and reduced from 107 to 106. As many as 11 areas have been added and 12 have been removed from the previous list.
