30-year-old woman loses s 4 lakh to fake task scam in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: A 30-year-old woman living in Sector 81 was defrauded of Rs 4 lakh by cyber fraudsters who offered her a job through a Telegram group on April 16. The victim was unemployed for the past two months, and was in dire need of a job. When she found an opportunity through Telegram, she decided to join. The accused added her to a Telegram group, purportedly offering tasks on behalf of an e-commerce giant. Initially, they demanded small payments to appear legitimate and gain her trust. They, however, later demanded substantial sums, claiming the money would be refunded only upon task completion. Throughout, the scammers forced her to complete the task, and when she completed it, she still could not get her money back that had been transferred to them. TNN
