GURUGRAM: The crime branch of Gurugram
police
arrested three members of a
gang
specialised in
theft
and
vehicle lifting
from
Sector 29
on Wednesday.
With the arrest, police claim to have solved nearly 20 cases of theft,
vehicle
lifting and
snatching
.
The accused were identified as Dinesh, Iqbal alias Lalla and Ankit alias Kalia.
Police recovered two country-made pistols from their possession.
Police said last week the gang had barged into a house of one Sharavan Kumar in
Gandhi Nagar
with the intention to thrash him. As Sharavan was not there in the house, they thrashed his sister with sticks and an iron road leading to her death. A case was registered at Shivaji Nagar police station.
Dinesh is a proclaimed offender and has a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head.
“Multiple cases are registered against the accused at different police stations of the city,” said ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan adding that they are hoping to get more details about the criminal activities of the gang during interrogation.
Gurgaon police had busted 62 gangs in 2020 and arrested 159 criminals and solved around 293 cases and recovered around Rs 1.80 crores from their possession. In the same period police arrested 368 proclaimed offenders and 93 bail jumpers.
The year also recorded four police gunfight with the criminals that led to 10 being arrested.
From the beginning of this year, city police has tightened the noose around these vehicle lifter gangs by forming dedicated teams to nab them.
