22-yr-old dies in hit-and-run

Gurgaon: A 22-year-old youth, resident of Dhorka village, was crushed to death late on Wednesday after a speeding mini-truck hit him near his village. The driver fled the scene. An FIR was lodged at Sector 10 A police station on Thursday against an unknown driver but police have failed to identify the vehicle yet.

According to police, the youth has been identified as Kamaldeep. He was crossing a road around 11:30pm on Wednesday near his village when a mini-truck hit him and drove away. Some passersby spotted him and took him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

On the basis of a complaint by Kamaldeep’s cousin Rajbeer Singh, Sector 10 A police lodged an FIR under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 A (death due to negligence) of the IPC. “We have registered a case of death due to negligence and rash driving against the unknown driver and are searching for him. We handed over the body to kin after postmortem,” said ASI Anil Kumar, the investigating officer.
