Gurgaon: In a span of just six hours, joint police teams across the city arrested around 120 people, who had allegedly been involved in various criminal activities, on Sunday. The accused included 17 wanted criminals, along with people who had jumped bail.
The wanted criminals had around 60 cases registered against them under various sections of the IPC, NDPS, Arms, and Excise Act across police stations in the city. These people were mostly involved in cases of theft, liquor smuggling and possession of drugs, gambling and cyber fraud among other criminal activities.
The operation was conducted by a total of 169 police teams led by 720 police officers, including 7 DCPs and 22 ACPs. The police teams jointly took action to curb criminal elements without leaving a scope for escape. Raids were conducted at 100 locations in the city from 6am to 12pm.
“It’s the collaborative spirit of Gurgaon police to make the city safer. We want to send a strong message to those who choose the path of crime – there is no escape. We will ensure safeguarding every corner of our city,” said Vikas Arora, commissioner of police.
Police also recovered several items from the accused. The list of seized items includes three stolen cars, 465 grams of cannabis, 1.06 grams of MDMA, 2 hookahs, 2 flavored tobacco packets, cash worth Rs 28,640, four stolen mobile phones, three stolen ATM cards, 11 SIM cards used for cyber fraud, six bikes, 20 kilograms of iron scrap, illicit liquor, stolen stationary items, etc.
Furthermore, 295 traffic challans were issued during the drive against wrong-side driving during the raid.
