11 crash victims in Gurgaon get Rs 1.5L free treatment in March first week
Gurgaon: In the first week of March, as many as 11 accident victims received cashless treatment worth Rs 1.5 lakh in various hospitals of the city. In Jan, Union minister Nitin Gadkari announced the start of cashless treatment for road accident victims. The initiative aims to assist accident survivors by ensuring they receive urgent treatment. It is part of an effort to reduce fatalities in road accidents. After the successful completion of the pilot project, the scheme was implemented from March 1.According to police, starting treatment during the golden hours helps save lives. The treatment can be carried out at any private hospital. Generally, in case of an accident, it takes time to reach the hospital, and private hospitals usually do not start treatment without a minimum deposit, which leads to delays in treatment.Under the scheme, accident victims are given free treatment up to a limit of Rs 1.5 lakh for a maximum of seven days under section 162 of the motor vehicle act. The road accident victim is taken to the hospital, where the management uploads data of the injured person on their software and sends it to the police station concerned. The police station confirms, leading to the initiation of cashless treatment."The traffic police promptly called the investigating officer (IO) from the concerned police station to fill in accident-related information, ensuring that the victims could benefit from the cashless scheme during their treatment. The concerned hospitals were also informed to admit the injured immediately and proceed with treatment under the cashless scheme," DCP (traffic) Virender Vij said.
