GURGAON: One died as a speeding dumper hit a parked DSC water tanker on the Sector 31 flyover on Thursday.
The water tanker was parked on the high-speed lane, next to the median, to water some plants when it was hit by a speeding dumper. Seconds later, the dumper was hit from behind by a Maruti Swift. The impact was so severe that the dumper driver was killed on the spot.
The two occupants of the car and the cleaner of the dumper also received injuries. The accident which occurred around 11 am led to traffic pile ups on the flyover and beyond.The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Abdul Vahid, a resident of Kishangarh in Rajasthan.
The city police have registered a case of negligence against the DSC water tanker driver based on a complaint by Vahids uncle Anis Khan. The body was handed over to his family after a post mortem was conducted. This is the second such fatal accident caused by a water tankers being parked carelessly next to the median on the Expressway.
Despite several warnings, the concessionaire, DSC Ltd, has not rectified the medieval practice of watering plants by parking tankers in the middle of the high speed lane.
