PANAJI: The weak system that originated from
Cyclone Vardah has ended up being inconsequential for Goa, and the north-easterly winds is likely to bring in the mild chill back in a few days.

The low pressure area lying over coastal Kerala to Karnataka and Arabian sea, now persists over
southeast Arabian Sea
. “At present, there is no weather system that will affect our region,” M L Sahu, director, meteorological centre said.
Light rain has been recorded due to the low pressure area during the last two days. Canacona recorded 3.2mm, Dabolim a trace and Mormugao 0.2mm during the last 24 hours till Thursday morning. Valpoi recorded 2.4mm and Sakhali 1.0mm of rain till Friday morning.
With north easterly winds starting to stir again, the minimum temperature came down to 23.8°C on Friday from 25.6°C , which was 4.5°C above normal, compared to the previous day.
The meteorological centre officials said that the minimum temperature is likely to come down to 20°C on Saturday.
The lowest the mercury dipped during the season was 19°C during early November, and 17.8°C last week before cyclone Vardah hit the eastern coast and crossed to Goa in a weakened condition.
The maximum temperature has been steady at 34+ degrees C during the last few days. “We expect the day temperature to hover between 34°C and 35°C,” Sahu said. tnn
