PANAJI: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday assured to link the Griha Aadhar scheme with inflation. He said that next year there will be an increase in the amount disbursed under Griha Aadhar from Rs 1,500. Sawant said that the state government is committed to increase the happiness index.
He said that due to the rise in inflation, the state government will increase the Griha Aadhar amount given to women to run their household without difficulties.
The CM said that the state government gives pension to around 3 lakh citizens of the state through various schemes, including Griha Aadhar and Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS), and the government will deposit money in the account of beneficiaries up to August by Friday.
“Goa’s population is 15 lakh. Earlier we used to give Griha Aadhar to 1.3 lakh women and we have added another 11,000 beneficiaries. Now this figure has reached 1.5 lakh. We give pensions to 1.5 lakh citizens under DSSS. We provide Rs 2,000 under DSSS and Rs 1,500 under Griha Aadhar. This means we provide pensions to around 3 lakh citizens,” Sawant said at the function to distribute sanction letters to the beneficiaries of Griha Aadhar.
Women and child development minister Vishwajit Rane has proposed to raise the Griha Aadhar amount for the qualified recipients every year. “The chief minister also underscored the importance of the Goa model and affirmed that it will support the people of Goa. The Goa model will be an example for the rest of the country,” Rane said.
The chief minister said that the state government will launch an e-bazaar to provide an online platform to the citizens who prepare homemade products.
