‘Will involve NIO, NCPOR to promote blue economy’

Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said a blue economy can play a crucial role in shaping Goa’s future and is important for collaboration with leading research institutions such as the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) and the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR).
“We will involve NIO and NCPOR to enhance our knowledge and explore the possibilities of a blue economy.I encourage students to take full advantage of emerging opportunities within it,” he said at the flag-off ceremony for the promotional van of the Aqua Mega Fish Festival, 2025. “Our aim is to transform Goa into Vikasit Goem by 2047.”
Sawant also called on the fishing community to seize the opportunity for growth.
The Aqua Mega Fish Festival, scheduled from Jan 10 to 12 at the SAG grounds, Campal, will showcase a diverse range of ornamental and edible fish varieties. The promotional van, which will travel across Goa in the coming weeks, is aimed at generating interest and awareness about the event.
