PANAJI: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will take its karyakartas into confidence before announcing candidates in those constituencies where MLAs have been inducted from other political outfits. He also said that the list of candidates would be announced soon.



BJP held a meeting on Saturday to discuss its preparedness for the 2022 assembly election. “We will take karyakartas into confidence. We will do justice to everyone,” he said.

There is a strong resentment among the karyakartas over the induction of sitting MLAs into the party and for assuring them tickets. In 2019, 10 Congress MLAs and two MGP MLAs had joined the BJP.

Former chief minister Manohar Parrikar’s son Utpal made it clear that he will contest assembly election a day after the BJP hinted to give ticket to its Panaji MLA Atanasio ‘Babsuh’ Monserrate.

Similarly, in Saligao, after the induction of former

Goa Forward Party

MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar, BJP

Saligao mandal

opposed the move and decided to field its candidate under the banner of Together for Saligao.

Even in Porvorim, BJP mandal is upset over the induction of two-time former Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte into the party.

Some karyakartas even left the party and joined other political parties to defeat BJP as they were sidelined.
