Vhalshim-Vathadev bypass road inaugurated

Bicholim: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday inaugurated the 4.2-km-long Vhalshim-Vathadev bypass road at Bicholim. The road, which is expected to cut travel time between Mapusa and Sanquelim by 6km, comprises four bridges, two culverts, two flyovers and one underpass. Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye and Mayem MLA Premendra Shet were also present at the inauguration.

During his address, the CM said the road was completed in a record 500 days and that it would also be used as an industrial corridor. Work on the Assonora-Mulgao bypass road and the road from the Latambarcem industrial estate to Mopa airport would be undertaken soon, he said, as will construction of a new bus stand and a building for the fire services in Bicholim. Govt is also planning a good administrative complex for the area, the CM added.
