Venzy says RG, AAP ready for unconditional alliance

Margao: The anti-39A protest at Azad Maidan that ended on Friday triggered a political alliance, with RG and AAP announcing their readiness for an unconditional coalition as part of a broader opposition front in Goa.

The RG-led anti-39A demonstration drew together disparate opposition voices united by a shared cause. However, as the crowds dispersed and the slogans faded, a new narrative took shape on the sidelines.

AAP’s Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas said that RG president Manoj Parab reached out to him with a proposal for an alliance between the two parties as part of a wider opposition coalition in the state.


Viegas said that AAP took the proposal seriously and consulted party national convener Arvind Kejriwal before responding. “AAP received the alliance offer from Parab, and we are ready for an unconditional alliance in the interest of Goa,” he said.

Parab often openly expressed his desire to forge a united opposition front. At the Azad Maidan rally, he appealed directly to opposition MLAs, urging those whose parties resisted alliance formation to consider crossing over to RG.

The AAP MLA said that discussions with other opposition parties will follow in due course. He said that any potential alliance would be based on a common minimum programme and a shared ideological understanding.
