Vasco restaurant shut after rat found in ‘chivda’

VASCO: Chief officer, Mormugao Municipal Council, Agnelo Fernandes issued a stop work order notice to Kashi Dairy, a restaurant and dairy shop in Vasco, after a video of a rat moving on eatables went viral on Tuesday.
A video showing a rat moving about on ‘chivda’ was recorded by a customer and he is heard telling the workers about the rat and their incapablity of taking it out.

Later, he announces the name of the restaurant while the workers try to catch hold of the rat who hides inside the machine.
On watching this, Fernandes issued the dairy owner a stop work order notice for running it in unhygienic conditions. The notice read, “It is in contravention of MMC trade and occupation licensing bylaws, 1989, and Section 265 of Goa Municipalities Act, 1968.”
Fernandes directed to stop the activities of the restaurant and show cause within seven days from the date of receipt of the notice as to why action should not be initiated under Section 265 (3) of GMA.
Fernandes said, “We have issued a notice to stop the restaurant and milk activity on receipt of the notice served on him and show cause why his business actitivity under the Trade and Occupational Act should not be stopped permanently under Section 265 of Municipal Act.”
