Two suicide cases at Canacona

The Canacona police conducted both panchanamas and registered a case of suicide under Section 174 of the CrPC and sent both the bodies for post mortem to Hospicio hospital, Margao.

CANACONA: In the last forty-eight hours, two suicide cases have been registered at the Canacona police station after a 30-year-old man allegedly ended his life at Shellar Canacona on Monday afternoon and a 23-year-old woman from Gaondongrem allegedly committed suicide on Saturday.
Canacona police said the man, Gunnappa Lamani, 30, ended his life between 12.30pm and 1pm on Monday.

The incident came to light when his family members returned home and saw that Gunnappa had hanged himself from the roof of his home with the help of a rope. PI Raju Raut Dessai said that the police could not find any motive behind the suicide after preliminary investigations. “There was no suicide note left behind,” he said.
In the second case, Devita alias Baby Gaonkar, 23, a resident of Gaondongrem, committed suicide by hanging herself in her residence on Saturday evening. On receiving the information, Canacona police rushed to the site and took possession of the body. Since the deceased was recently married, the Canacona SDM Shiv Kumar will be investigating the case.

In the last six months it is learnt that around eight suicide cases were registered at Canacona police station most of them are from village areas and out of which 3 are from Agonda village.
