Goa: Trinamool’s Porvorim candidate arrested

PANAJI: The Porvorim police on Saturday arrested Trinamool Congress’ (TMC) Porvorim candidate Sandeep Vazarkar in two cases of alleged cheque bouncing in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

The police said that after they received two bailable warrants from a Dehradun court for execution, they summoned Vazarkar to the police station.

“He was arrested in the cheque bounce case at Uttarakhand,” Porvorim police station inspector Anant Gaonkar said.

In December, hours after TMC functionary Vazarkar took out a huge bike rally in Porvorim, the Mapusa police had arrested him in connection with the alleged Serula Comunidade land grab case.

Recently, Vazarkar quit BJP and joined TMC after former Porvorim independent MLA Rohan Khaunte was inducted into BJP.
