Tribals’ fight for poll quota begins with Panaji stir today

Margao: ‘Mission Political Reservation for Scheduled Tribes of Goa’ will launch an agitation with a public meeting at Azad Maidan, Panaji, on Wednesday. The meeting is in furtherance of their demand for tribal rights and political reservation for scheduled tribes.
Timed to coincide with the occasion of the birth anniversary of a tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda, the organisers said that the agitation will be held along the lines of the ‘Ulgulan’ movement, an 18th-century tribal uprising.Munda is considered the first tribal revolutionary who fought for tribal rights with the British government. tnn
