Tourists visit Goa to try out drugs: Goa CM Laxmikant Parsekar

PANAJI: Stating that drugs are not been manufactured in the state, chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Monday said that the quite a few tourists come to Goa to experience drugs.


Speaking at the function organized on the occasion of the international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Parsekar said “Even if drugs are not manufactured in the state, a section of tourists want to test the drug at a tourist place (like Goa). Out of the large number of tourist who visit the state, some fraction of the tourists may require drugs or they are tempted to use drugs.”


As there is a demand for narcotic substances in the state, some locals and some tourists are involved in drug trade, Parsekar said that drug trade was undesirable business avenue to be undertaken in the state. Parsekar also said that every year around 60 lakh tourist visit the state.
