VASCO: Vasco police on Tuesday detained over 100 migrants for failing to submit tenant verification forms from Khariwada areas in Vasco. The drive was initiated by Vasco police inspector Kapil Nayak under the supervision of deputy superintendent of police (Vasco)
Salim Shaikh.
“The special drive against strangers, those residing in the Khariwada locality of Vasco, was aimed at beefing up security.
It was also important for creating awareness among people for not complying with directives issued by the police department to fill up tenant verification forms,” Nayak said.
“The police, in its massive drive, have detained over 100 migrants who were residing in houses as tenants. The exercise continued till late Tuesday evening. The police were enquiring about the backgrounds of the detained persons,” stated Nayak.
He said that police had earlier warned people by visiting several areas, urging them to fill up their tenant verification forms, failing which they will be dealt with strictly.
Nayak said that the drive was also conducted in view of VIP and VVIP movements in the state for various upcoming functions, including Christmas and New Year celebrations. “The drive will continue in other areas of Vasco,” Nayak said.
