Telangana co files complaint over fake antivenom supplied to DHS
Panaji: Vins Bioproducts Limited, based in Telangana, filed a complaint with the Panaji police seeking registration of an FIR and an investigation into alleged counterfeit/adulterated/spurious snake venom antiserum supplied to the Goa directorate of health services (DHS).
The company complained about unidentified persons/entities producing counterfeit/adulterated/spurious drugs in the name and nature of snake venom antiserum IP (Lyophilised) – 10ml, and trying to pass them off in the name of Vins Bioproducts Limited. It also alleged that they were fraudulently participating in the tendering process held by the directorate of health services, Goa, under the name of the company Vins Bioproducts Limited without authorisation or consent.
The complaint stated that the company was informed on Jan 13 that a counterfeit product was supplied to the DHS in the name of the company. The company’s authorised representative travelled to Goa the next day to enquire. On being shown the products supplied to DHS, the company found that the antiserum batch numbers and details were of products which were already supplied by the company to Bihar govt on March 22, 2025, and no such supply of products was delivered to Goa.
On Jan 14, the company sent an email to DHS informing them that the counterfeit/adulterated/spurious product supplied to DHS did not match the packaging of the company’s product, and that the licence number did not match the label and mono carton supplied.
The company, suspecting that the products supplied to DHS were forged, requested DHS to hold and stop their usage. It requested that 38 vials be provided to the company for the purpose of testing and analysis.
DHS then informed that the dept froze, with immediate effect, 1,081 vials of the drug and was not distributing them to any hospital/centre in Goa.
The company also addressed a complaint to the Drugs Controller General (India) zonal office at Hyderabad, the enforcement cell division, drug department, New Delhi, and the Central Drug Laboratory, Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, giving urgent intimation of the issue and requesting immediate regulatory and legal action in this regard.
