Mandrem taxi operators meet MLA over Mopa fee hike

Mapusa: Taxi operators from Mandrem constituency on Thursday met MLA Jit Arolkar to discuss the hike in parking fees at Manohar International Airport (MIA), Mopa.The recent issue is due to a sudden hike in entry and parking fees by airport operator GMR, reportedly from Rs 80 to Rs 200.“I have assured the delegation that the matter shall be taken up with chief minister Pramod Sawant to seek an equitable and judicious resolution safeguarding the legitimate interests of the local transport fraternity,” Arolkar said.The Mopa taxi issue in Goa is an ongoing dispute involving taxi operators protesting airport policies, fees, and competition from app-based services at MIA.
