Panaji: P Anand has been selected by the Taekwondo Federation of India to represent the country at the 12th South Asian Games 2016 in Shillong.
Goa’s taekwondo star is the only player from Goa to have got the nod for the Games in the below 87kg category.
Anand, 24, who has two international gold and five bronze medals to his kitty is confident that he can win a medal at the NEHU Indoor stadium.

“I am confident of a medal. I am working towards making everyone proud,” said Anand, thanking Taekwondo Association of Goa president Raju Mangueshkar, secretary Deepak Mandrekar and coach Sunil Sharma for their continued support.
Anand was the only Goan to win a gold medal at the National Games 2015 in Kerala. Besides countless National honours, he has won a gold medal at each of the last two National Games in the senior under-80kg category at Jharkhand (2011) and Kerala (2015).
