PANAJI: The high court of Bombay at Goa on Wednesday restrained the Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) from going ahead with its plans to shift kiosks (gaddas) from Ponda city to the new Ponda municipal market complex.
A division bench comprising Justice B P Dharmadhikari and Justice U D Salvi passed the orders while hearing a petition filed by the kiosk owners under the banner of Budhwarpeth Vyapari Manch against the civic body's decision to shift them to the new market.
Advocate V A Lawande, appearing for the PMC, told the court that the council is in the process of taking a decision in that regard. However, the council needs some time, he stated. While granting the council time till June, the court granted the stay orders until further orders in that regard.
