Panaji: State govt is contemplating giving home loans at an interest rate of 4% to employees in the private sector, chief minister
Pramod Sawant said on Tuesday. “We will issue a notification of a 4% interest rate for housing loans for govt employees, and similarly, we are thinking of providing the same to private sector employees,” he said.
He also said that state govt would provide reservation to employees of the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC) in Goa police, forest department, and the fire services. “We will give them a 4% reservation in the uniformed services,” he said.
“We are thinking of what other facilities can be provided to persons in the unorganised sector. We are thinking of giving these facilities through the labour welfare board, construction welfare board, or govt,” he said.
There are over 8,000 personnel in GHRDC earning more than Rs 24,000 per month. Sawant said that govt has promised these employees that govt would pay for their education if they want to pursue further studies.
Sawant presented the Vishwakarma Adarsh Kamgar award to persons working in the unorganised sector. The CM said that state govt recognised employees in the unorganised sector, and that it will not allow any injustice towards them.
“Whenever required, departments will take action, and there’s no need for employees from the unorganised sector to hit the streets for their demands. We will discuss issues and resolve them,” he said.
The CM also said that govt would make it mandatory for industries to provide a
minimum wage and health facilities to their employees, and that govt has decided to implement this policy. Sawant also said that every employee should be skilled, and that it would help them get better salaries.
