State is safe for women, solo travellers: CM
Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said Goa remains a safe space for women, including solo women travellers. He also said that after mapping 70,000 tenants, the police would soon begin verifying the identities of migrant workers in Goa’s 23 industrial estates. He was speaking after flagging off 50 scooters for the traffic cell.
“Since we started the tenant verification drive, migrants are a bit more reluctant to stay in the state as their past crime records will be identified by the police. Some may have run away (from Goa),” said Sawant and added that labour contractors will be asked to complete the verification process for their workers.
“I accept that because of migrants coming to the state, we can see incidents occurring in Goa,” he said.
