St Xavier's, DMC win KA contest

Panaji: St Xavier's college, Mapusa, and Dyanprasarak Mandal College (DMC), Assagao, walked away with top honours at Kala Academy's one-act play contest in the Konkani and Marathi categories, respectively.
In the Konkani category, 'Aas' by St. Xavier College, Mapusa, 'Date' by Narayan Zantye College of Commerce, Bicholim and 'Tagdi' by DMC, Assagao won the first, second and third prize for performances.
'Nipadari'by DMS PVS SM Kushe, HSS was selected for the consolation prize.The first and second prize for best acting (male) was awarded to Gaurav Kubal from St Xavier's College, Mapusa and Nehal Desai of DMC, Assagao.
The first and second prizes for acting (female) were awarded to Asmita Kambli of Narayan Zantye College of Commerce, Bicholim and Prerna Palekar, St. Xavier College, Mapusa.
In the Marathi category, 'Kavle' staged by DMC, Assagao, and 'Aakrit' staged by DM's PVS SM Kushe HSS, were adjudged for best performances and awarded with first prize and second prize respectively.
'Badli' by St Xavier's College, Mapusa, bagged the third prize for performance. Consolation prize was awarded to 'Checkmate' by Vidya Probhodini, Porvorim, respectively. Kunal Dhargalkar of St Xavier's College, Mapusa, and Suraj Patki of Amay Vidyaprasarak HSS were selected for first and second prize for acting (male) whereas Prajakta Naik of DMC, Assagao, and Trupti Salgaonkar of Vidya Prabhodini, Porvorim were awarded with first and second prize for acting (female).

The prizes for technical support in sets were awarded to Sagar Haldankar for 'Aas', best lights to Ankita Sawant, St Xavier's College, Mapusa; best background music to Amit Rane of Narayan Zantye College of Commerce, Bicholim, best make-up to Vipul Natekar of DMS PVS SM Kushe, HSS and best costumes to Prashanti Talpankar of DMC, Assagao. The panel of judges included Rajendra Mahajan, Vrunda Naik and Shirish Naik.
