South Goa cops put traffic plans in place

: With a few days to Christmas, there is an increase in tourists visiting the state resulting in traffic congestion in various parts with traffic police often struggling to cope.

told TOI that he had deployed traffic personnel at all main junctions in the town. “The office has been shut and the office staff has been deployed on the roads to man traffic due to the shortage of manpower,” said Gawde.

Palolem which is popular with tourists cannot accommodate more than 30 vehicles in the parking lot in front of the beach. The owners of two barren private fields, approximately 500m from the beach, have been requested to provide parking. Canacona traffic PSI Gautam Salunke said, “Annually, during this peak season, there is a huge rush of tourists both foreign and domestic.” There is sufficient parking arrangement at the other Canacona beaches of Patnem, Polem, Galgibhag and Agonda.

to nab pickpockets.
