Smart cameras’ work across Goa spurs 46k traffic challans till June
Parallel data shows that across all sources, a total of 36,535 challans were issued so far in 2025-26 (till June), amounting to Rs 5.9 crore in fines, with Rs 1.2 crore collected. This suggests that challans from smart cameras’ work make up almost as much as the manually issued challans recorded so far this year.
In the previous fiscal year (2024-25), 93,249 challans were issued after smart traffic cameras detected violations, with fines totalling Rs 9.6 crore, of which Rs 3.8 crore was collected. This is as opposed to 1.2 lakh manual challans issued in 2024-25 (the full fiscal year), with fines amounting to Rs 21.6 crore, of which Rs 9.4 crore was collected.
Smart traffic cameras in the 2023-24 fiscal year generated 71,665 challans amounting to nearly Rs 6.9 crore, with a higher collection rate of Rs 3.9 crore.
In 2023-24 (the full fiscal year), 81,184 challans were issued with fines totalling Rs 13.4 crore, of which Rs 8.5 crore was collected.
