Siddique video: Cops quiz Goa AAP's Amit Palekar for 3rd time

Panaji: AAP state president Amit Palekar was questioned by Goa police for the third time on Wednesday in connection with the first video of criminal Suleman Mohammed Khan, also known as Siddique, who escaped from crime branch custody on Dec 12.

The video was given by Palekar to Congress vice-president Sunil Kawthankar after Suleman’s escape. Palekar told Goa police that the first video was given to him by an unidentified person, police had said.

“If they call me for investigation, I have to come for investigation. I am once again repeating that I am not an accused, but I am a witness. The accused is already sent to judicial custody, but the names which came out in that video have never been called for questioning, which is surprising for me,” the AAP functionary said.

He said that police should investigate this matter and call the deputy superintendent of police and superintendent of police to record their statements. “The way my statement has been recorded, their statements also need to be recorded because the accusation is against them, and he escaped from their custody,” Palekar said.

He said that the way police are trying to find out his source of the video, the second video source also needs to be investigated. “They are not investigating that (second video source), and I am not able to understand it. It is purely harassment,” Palekar said.

Goa police questioned Kawthankar for nearly two hours about Siddique’s first video. Police said Kawthankar told them that the video was handed over by Palekar, who asked him to check the video.
