Shiroda murder accused sent to 10-day custody

Ponda: Police have seized the rubble stone used as a weapon in the Shiroda murder case. The accused, Chetan Ratnakar Gaonkar, 34, a resident of Shirwada, had reportedly used the stone to kill his wife.
Chetan had surrendered before Shiroda police on Saturday afternoon after killing his wife, Hema, 31. Chetan has been remanded in 10-day police custody by JMFC Ponda.
The accused had confessed that their marital relationship was strained. Both of them were suspecting each other of being involved in an extramarital affairs, the police said.
The couple has a two-and-a-half-year-old son.
