Sattari death: Family seeks swift probe

Panaji: The family of Shravan Barve, 24, from Sattari has sought speedy investigation into his death after his body was found under mysterious circumstances just outside the family home at Nagargao, Sattari.
Shravan’s brother Uday said the autopsy report has confirmed that his brother died due to asphyxia caused by manual compression of the neck.
The case as baffled the family as Shravan was found dead within the family property. This has come as a surprise to the family who had no suspects to name who could have had any enmity with the deceased. Uday said that the family suspected murder from the time Shravan’s body was found on Tuesday.
“We found the body at around 8.30am on Tuesday inside our premises near the gate. Police have registered a case of murder. We seek identification of the culprits at the earliest. Those responsible for the murder should receive the highest punishment. Police have started an inquiry. It appears to be a local as the person who has committed the crime seems to know what time we are present or not present and what time they could get away with committing the crime,” said Uday.
“No arrests have been made so far. The family has only two children and the parents have lost one of the two to a murder. This is a big failure, which is putting a lot of stress on the family but also on all citizens of Goa because it could be any one of us tomorrow,” said AAP member Valmiki Naik, who was present with the family to receive the body after the autopsy.
The last rites were conducted on Wednesday.
