Saligao locals thrash two for ‘gold theft’

Panaji: Saligao locals on Wednesday thrashed two persons, alleging that the duo was cheating villagers of gold ornaments under the pretext of cleaning the jewellery.
Mohammad Irshad and Sultan, natives of Bihar, were caught after they convinced an elderly woman to part with her gold for cleaning.
Locals called the police to have them apprehended. Villagers claimed many are roaming villages to offer gold cleaning services, but instead they flee with the chain or collect gold particles with the use of chemicals.Several chemicals and other material were found on the duo.
