Rs 43cr cocaine: Zimbabwean among 2 more arrested in Chicolna case
Panaji: Goa police on Tuesday arrested two more persons, including a Zimbabwean national, in connection with the alleged seizure of 4.3kg of cocaine worth over Rs 43 crore, at Chicolna.
Crime branch SP Rahul Gupta said that during the interrogation of one of the accused, Reshma Wadekar, she disclosed that a person from Gujarat transferred her funds and made flight tickets available to travel abroad.
“The details of the person were obtained, and as the location of the suspected person was in Ahmedabad, a team led by PI Kishore Ramanan was deputed to Gujarat and the team arrested 32-year-old Chirag Rameshbhai Dudhat,” Gupta said.
He added that during further investigation, Chirag said he transferred the money to Reshma on the directions of one M Don, a foreign national. “Chirag disclosed that he received money through a mobile app,” Gupta said. “Upon verifying the transaction, it was revealed that Chirag received money from Tariro Brightmore Mangwana, a Zimbabwean national currently residing in Vadodara, Gujarat.”
Mangwana has been arrested in the case, Gupta said, adding that both accused persons have been remanded in judicial jail at Colvale.
In one of the biggest-ever single-day drug seizures by Goa police, 4.3kg of cocaine worth over Rs 43 crore was seized at Chicolna in Mormugao taluka. Three individuals, including a woman, were arrested, and police suspect the drugs were brought to Goa from Thailand to be sold in the local market.
Goa police arrested a 45-year-old native of West Bengal, Nibu Vincent, and a couple, Reshma Wadekar and Manguesh Wadekar, both residents of Sada in Mormugao. Crime branch sleuths caught Vincent red-handed and subsequently arrested the couple.
