‘Roads dug up for cabling work will be restored by March 2024’
Ponda: Roads that have been dug up for laying underground electricity cables will be restored between December and March 2024, said power minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar.
He also said that all roads across the state will be hotmixed by March next year, he said.
Admitting that the dug-up roads are inconveniencing citizens, Dhavalikar said that the public works department (PWD) will take up tarring once the contractor completes the cabling work.

Several roads have turned uneven, while some stretches are unmotorable due to the ongoing power cabling work.
Commuters have pointed out that the trenches that have been dug up for the cabling work pose a serious risk to commuters.
Dhavalikar said that the cabling work in Ponda will resume once the monsoon withdraws, and will be followed by hotmixing.
The power minister also said that his department has repaired all the streetlights across the state to provide uninterrupted supply during the festive season.
