Rent-a-cycle initiative at Parra to promote jobs & sustainable tourism

Calangute: Tourists visiting the world-famous Maddani road in Parra can now rent a cycle to promote self-employment among unemployed youth in Parra, said Calangute MLA Michael Lobo.

He said tourists visit Parra only to put their photos and videos on social media. “Now they can go on a cycle and put the photos and videos on Instagram,” he said.

He said the initiative would provide a source of income for the youth, empowering them to become entrepreneurs. The initiative was launched in presence of Parra sarpanch Chandrakant Harmlakar. The rent-a-bicycle scheme will provide bicycles on rent to tourists, generating employment opportunities for local youth, he said.

“I’m thrilled to launch this innovative initiative, which will empower our youth and provide them with a sustainable source of income,” he said.

Harmlakar said, “This scheme will provide employment opportunities to our youth and promote eco-friendly tourism in our constituency. We’re committed tomaking this project successful.”
