PANAJI: GFP on Monday threatened to protest against the government if the social welfare department does not release funds to the beneficiaries of different schemes within two days.

GFP general secretary Durgadas Kamat said the beneficiaries should have got their dues well ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities.

He said that the objective of the Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS) is to provide financial assistance to the most vulnerable sections of society. “The BJP government has time and again failed to deposit the DSSS pension for senior citizens and widows on time,” Kamat added.

“GFP will be forced to gherao the social welfare department if the government fails to deposit the dues within the next two days,” he said.
